I haven’t been writing as much as I’d like to recently, and have been really falling behind with all these posts and reviews I want to get up here on the blog. So I thought I’d try to do a weekly update as a way of keeping a little diary. And hopefully that’ll help me get back into the swing of it!
I broke my phone on Christmas Eve (it got batted out of my hand by a certain toddler who was rather overzealous with a giant balloon…) and so most of these photos have been whatsapped to me by my lovely and very patient husband who frequently let me hijack his phone to grab some snaps.
The last week of the Christmas holidays saw us bringing in the New Year at my parent’s house with my aunt and uncle. The little lady spent a while on New Year’s Day playing on her bike out on the street at my parent’s house. We’re trying to build her confidence up because she’s still quite anxious on the bike and doesn’t really like it yet. That’s one goal for this year…
We’d been indoors a lot over the first week with Christmas dinners galore and I couldn’t wait to get back outside again! We took a little winter trip to Troon beach for the afternoon. To be honest, I like the beach better in winter than in summer; mainly because there are far fewer people around. The kids aren’t as sold as I am, but I think we all enjoyed getting out in the fresh air.
The Irn Bru Carnival is an annual tradition for us. We go every year sometime after new year and we couldn’t miss out this year.
Then it was a trip to Falkirk to one of our favourite swimming pools – the Mariner Centre. This was followed by lunch, a walk around the Kelpies and a play in the Helix playpark. One of my favourite places to go for a walk and a play!
We had lots of lazy jammie mornings, playing with all the Christmas toys and games and watching movies together. With a few walks in the park (even if they were in the dark) and a trip to our favourite – The Climbing Academy – to expend some of the pent up energy the kids both seemed to be harbouring!
It’s back to school tomorrow, and back to the school run. The kids haven’t been up before 9 for the past 2 weeks (and neither have we) so I’m not looking forward to it. But we’ll be back in the swing of it in no time. Hopefully.
Resolutions aren’t really my jam so I haven’t even thought about those this year. They never stick more than a week anyway. All I want from 2019 is the same as every other year; to spend time with my family, to see my friends more, and to have a nice relaxing bath every so often. And maybe to have a few weekends away…
So Happy New Year to you and yours, from me and mine. I hope that this year brings you lots of love, lots of laughter and lots of family and fun.
