We had a spare hour the other day and decided to pop into Jungle In The City soft play in Glasgow West End. It’s in Partick, and it’s so close to us that I can’t believe I’ve never been before!

The Play Area

The play area is in a few parts: there’s a play frame, a big ball pool and an open matted play area with bikes, toys, books etc.

The play frame itself is a bit worn & tatty, but it is clean. If your toddler isn’t ready to/refuses to go up these things by his/herself you’ll realise how small it actually is. But the kids that were didn’t seem to mind that at all. There’s one twisty tunnel slide (that’s pretty difficult to get down with a 1yr old on your lap when there are a horde of kids climbing up it towards you) and a separate area with lots of soft blocks and shapes to jump around on.

There is a big open mat area with lots of toys and books, and there are tons of bikes, cars and walkers around as well. This area was constantly being tidied while we were there which was actually pretty nice to see. This is a great area for toddlers – my little lady loved all the cars – it was really quiet when we were there so she had her choice of any of those parked up!

They do also have a nice & quite large ball pool. Big hit.

The Cafe

I only had a cuppa as I wasn’t allowed to sit and watch a certain little lady playing, but the cafe looked nice. They had a good selection of cakes!

The Cost

It was £2 entry for an hrs play, but you can ‘play all day’ for £4 Mon-Thu. It’s free for under 12 months. I think that’s pretty standard for soft play in Glasgow, and the £2 for an hour is good value if you’ve only got a wee while to play.

The Verdict

It’s a good place to meet up with other mums & bubs in the West End. It’s only a few minutes walk from Byres Rd, so it is really central (for the West End). However I do think it could do with a little bit of updating, so if I wasn’t meeting other folk I might go elsewhere with a bigger playframe.
