Here are a couple of lovely places around Glasgow for a wander with the family. Places to enjoy nature and the outdoors. See a waterfall here and there, a wee highland cow or two…
Rouken Glen Park: Walks & Waterfalls In The City
Rouken Glen Park is one of those places where you can enjoy a few hours of outdoor fun without a huge plan. Just grab your jacket, get outside, and let the kids explore.
The Whangie: A Walk With Adventure & Legends
A family friendly walk near Glasgow that combines gorgeous views, a touch of legend, and plenty of space for kids to explore. A fantastic day out with stunning scenery to boot.
Sunday Strolls: Tillicoutry Glen
The Tillicoutry Glen loop is a lovely walk through a beautiful glen. With the babbling burn, waterfalls, the little rock scramble, the bridges and boardwalks and the views, it’s high on the list of favourites for us.
Things To Do In Glasgow In Springtime!
We’ve been enjoying lots of time outdoors lately which has inspired me to make a little list of things to do with kids this spring. I’m going to use it as a little bucket list for the next couple of months. I hope it’s useful for you too!
Jurassic Parrr: Dino Themed Adventure Golf
If you love dinosaurs (or even just a bit of outdoor fun), Jurassic Parrr is worth a visit. It’s a fun combo of dinosaurs and golf, with a mini-golf course that’s enjoyable to play.
Cosmo World Buffet: Easy Family Dining
Cosmo World Buffet has a wide variety available and it’s very family friendly. The chocolate fountain is a big bonus for the kids too.
Palacerigg Country Park: Family Fun & Woodland Adventures
Palacerigg Country Park is a great place for fun play areas and peaceful nature walks. It’s especially good for little kids but older kids will enjoy the play areas here too. It can get quite mucky if it’s been raining, but pack a picnic, bring your wellies, and enjoy everything this lovely country park has to offer.
5 things to do in Pollok Park
Pollok Park is one of our favourite green spaces in the city. Go on a beautiful woodland walk, let the kids run around and burn off excess energy, find some magical fairy houses or dino bones and visit some fluffy cows. A great fun family day out.
Five Sisters Zoo Illuminations
Gorgeously festive and a little bit magical. The combination of twinkling lights, animals, and Christmas vibes makes for a wonderful evening. Wrap up warm, grab a hot chocolate, and prepare to have fun!

Part of the low cost series, for things to do around Glasgow that don’t cost a bomb.
The Enchanted Forest, Pitlochry
A stunning, family friendly event. The best light show we’ve been to; certainly the most visually spectacular. Highly recommend. Outstanding, wonderful show!
Festive Family Fun In Glasgow… That Isn’t Meeting Santa!
Santa is everywhere in December & I think seeing him too much can sometimes take a bit of magic away. Especially for slightly older kids. So here some of my fave non-Santa related festive activities if you want to avoid the man in red!

Things to do in Glasgow in Autumn for families. Free stuff, outdoors, indoors, cosy times at home… Loads of ideas for activities and events this Autumn.
Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum
We love a little trip into Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum for a few hours. It’s a huge space for the little ones to play in and a great place to meet up with a bunch of buggies. If you manage to read and learn anything new, that’s always a bonus!
Robertson Park, Renfrew
Robertson Park is a great little park to spend a few hours. The playpark is varied, the skate park is good, there’s open space for running around. Plus there’s a cute wee pond with swans and ducks.
Moyra Janes Brasserie: Hearty Grub & the Best Hot Chocolates
This is a little local place that the kids absolutely love going to for lunch or a wee hot chocolate and cake. Moyra Janes is a welcoming wee haven tucked away in Pollokshields, serving up the best lentil soup around.
Daytrip On The Waverley Paddle Steamer: Kids Sail for £1 This Season
Our trip on the Waverley from Glasgow to Rothesay was one of my favourite days out in the past few years. The daytrip was perfect, and travelling on the ship, seeing all the sights along the River Clyde, was great fun. It also felt like we took part in a little bit of history.
A Few Hours In Rothesay: Coastline & Castles
We were dropped off in Rothesay by The Waverley on Saturday and spent a little while exploring this lovely wee town. Super family friendly and loads to do!
