We used one of the recent school strike days off to head out to Cloybank Farm near Bonnybridge for a couple of hours. It’s an adorable little place with lots of lovely farm animals to see.

When you arrive you’ll see a couple of little honesty boxes dotted around, including one at the cafe cabin. You just stick your wee £2 in one of those, and if you don’t have cash you can pay £2 at the cafe and get cash for the box. The cafe is also where you get your animal feed; you can buy food for the different animals at £1 a bag.

We fed the llamas, the sheep and the goats. The llamas, sheep and goats will happily take food by hand, but there are also scoops attached to the fences for those who are a bit less sure of the animals. We didn’t feed the rest of the animals but we patted the donkeys and saw the pigs, cattle and turkeys, amongst others.

There is a small play area at Cloybank too with a few swings, some wooden teepees for playing dens and a few bits to clamber around on. It is aimed at younger kids, but mine still played there for a little while happily.

The Cafe

We had toasties and hotdogs in their nice wee cafe. They serve these up alongside sandwiches, sausage rolls, hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks. There are outdoor benches dotted around behind the cabin where you order food, plus a covered polytunnel if you want to get out of the elements for a while. There is a small indoor part of the cafe available too, but I think that you need to book it in advance.

Just as a side note, the cafe is very reasonably priced compared to so many other places!

The Cost

£2 for entry (per family) in a wee honesty box. Food available for the different animals at £1 a bag.

The Extra Info

  • Toilets available
  • Dogs allowed on lead
  • Not super wheel friendly but you can get a buggy around the enclosures
  • Parking available

The Verdict

The kids’ absolute favourite thing is feeding animals & they’re all so friendly here at Cloybank. They’re always waiting for the next bag of food to come along, especially the llamas and goats. It’s a wonderful wee place.
