Forest Holidays Deerpark is one of the most relaxing places I’ve ever been. The cabins are perfect. The forest ranger and his activities were fantastic fun and the forest is quiet and still and a beautiful place to stay. It’s a great holiday to unwind and spend quality time.
Visiting The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd
We visited the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd during our recent trip to Aviemore. It’s one of my favourite activities we’ve done this whole year! The whole family loved it; from age 2 to 76!
Briarlands Farm
Briarlands Farm is a great place for a run around, for jumping and climbing, for letting off some steam and for meeting cute animals. The tearoom at Briarlands is lovely too (their giant custard creams are absolutely amazing). It has a wee indoor play area with lots of toys where the kids can play while you finish your cuppa! It’s also reasonably priced for entry.
Pelvic Floor Rehab Classes with The Mighty Mama Coach
I went along to some post-natal training sessions with Lynsey, the Mighty Mama coach. Classes focussed on strengthening the pelvic floor and core. Lots of hard work (in a good way) but fun too. Kids can come along as well so no need to find childcare!

Turtle Tots Toddler Swimmers: A Breakthrough in the Pool
The little man and I just finished our first toddler class with Turtle Tots. When we started this latest block of classes we were having a bit of a blip. But with lots of patience from our lovely swim teacher we had a mini-breakthrough and he is back to enjoying his time in the pool again.

These are our 10 of the best family days our near Glasgow: a list of the places that we love to go and spend the day. Our Top Ten. The places we’ve returned to again and again. Some of them are free; some of them are most definitely not. Some of them are suited to rainy days and some are better for the dry days we’ve had so many of recently. Hopefully if you visit any of them, you’ll love them as much as we do!
Troon Beach
Troon Beach is a beautiful place, particularly when the sun is shining. But even when it’s not, there’s an ocean to splash in and all you need is a bucket and spade (and a watering can) and a picnic. Great fun.
Go Live at Glasgow Green
If you get the chance, go to Glasgow Green and see all the brilliant and completely free stuff there is to do as part of the Glasgow European Championships 2018! Its a fantastic day out!
Baltic Street Adventure Playground
Baltic Street Adventure Playground is different to any other play area we’ve been to. There’s loads for them to climb and swing on and jump off and play with. It’s fun, it’s exciting; it’s risky play at its very best. And it’s completely free.

Park Lives Baby Ballet
Park Lives is back until the 25th of July and there are a whole host of activities on in various parks around Glasgow. We checked out a lovely little Baby Ballet class in Victoria Park and the kids had great fun. See what’s on – it’s all FREE!
Children’s Exhibition at Tramway
The kids had such good fun at the Children’s Exhibition at Tramway. It isn’t massive, but we spent about an hour there and could easily have been there longer. The exhibits are fully interactive and the plasticine in particular gives a perpetually changing landscape to play with and mould, which both my kids really enjoyed. It’s free as well, which is always a bonus during the school holidays!
Cook Freezer Meals Review
You know those places that you walk or drive past almost every day, but you’ve never ventured in because you’re always on your way somewhere? Well Cook on Great Western Rd was one of those places for me. I made it in recently though, and was genuinely surprised by their freezer meals because they were so delicious!
Falkirk Wheel Splash Park
The Falkirk Wheel splash park is so much fun. There are a couple of different parts to the splash park, plus a playpark and lots of other (paid) activities. We spent the best part of 2 hours here and could easily have stayed longer. It’s such a great place for a cool down on a hot sunny day, and best of all, it’s free!
Tollcross Park Children’s Farm
Tollcross Park Children’s Farm a nice place for a runaround with a toddler, and the indoor education bit is brilliant. It’s definitely one for younger kids but Tollcross Park itself has beautiful rose gardens and is nice for a wander or scoot round too.
A Great Idea When You Misplace a Child
We were in the Riverside Museum the other day (yes, even with their EXTORTIONATE parking costs – unsurprisingly the car park was almost empty btw) with some friends and between us we managed to lose a child. It wasn’t busy in the slightest and it was just for a few minutes, but it was a scary scenario all the same.
It made me think about what you should do when you misplace a child, especially if you’re in a busy place. I’d seen a friend share this a few days before and thought it was pretty useful advice, so I thought I’d share here too.
In short, instead of shouting the child’s name it’s a much better idea to shout that you’re looking for a boy/girl wearing ______ (whatever the child is wearing). Another great idea if you’re going to be somewhere that’s really busy is to take a photo of your kids in the morning so you can easily show security or staff what they look like/are wearing. I’ve also seen a few kids with a phone number written on their arm so one of their parents can be contacted if they manage to get lost.
