When my first baby came along, one of the most important things to me was getting out of the house. So for any first time parents out there, here is a little list of my favourite things to do with a new baby. Things I wish I’d done more of when it was easy to!
“Build” your own adventure day out on the Glasgow Subway. Great for rainy or sunny days. You can make it as low cost as you like. Choose your stops and make your own adventure day up from this list!
Our 2020 days out are organised! A Historic Scotland membership would make the perfect gift for any family (or anyone) who likes getting out and exploring.

My best advice if you’ve got tickets is to go with an open mind; see it through your kids’ eyes. Don’t let the bad reviews ruin it for you. Expect to enjoy it and you will.
Last week we finally managed to get along to check out the new soft play at Kelvin Hall. The wee man absolutely loved it, and I really appreciated how bright and clean it was!
The little lady and I had a wee mummy daughter date & went along to iMOTO X, Europe’s biggest indoor electric motorbike track. We had the BEST time!
A wee run down of all the firework displays in and around Glasgow for fireworks night! Most are free. Loads of options to choose from!
Outdoor playgroups & forest schools in Glasgow for kids 0 – 12. Climbing trees, playing with sticks and mud, den building, marshmallow toasting, all the rustic fun!
This latest installation at Tramway is truly fantastic. It’s a full on sensory experience; for everyone. Just be aware with young kids that it’s no touching!
We always have a great time at Mugdock Country Park. It’s a huge open space to explore with a great castle and a nice wee playpark. Totally free as well, with free parking.
The Wallace Monument has beautiful views, height, stairs to climb, interesting exhibits on the way up, lots of history and a really nice wee walk to get there and back. We all really enjoyed it.
Lamont Farm Project is very small and very rustic, but it’s a great place to spend an hour wandering round and seeing some cute animals. The little man really enjoyed it here, patting the friendly cat and the rabbits. Sweet little place.
Reidvale Adventure Play Area is a really wonderful wee community driven place right in the heart of Dennistoun. There’s so much for kids to do and loads of space for them to just play and be kids.
Kelburn Country Park is a fantastic place to spend a day. The Secret Forest is one of the most magical things I’ve done with the kids. The whole place is rustic and lovely and the glen is beautiful. A great day out with the kids.
The Fullarton Fairy Trail is a really sweet little activity. There are fairy doors to fin, a nice playpark at the end and Troon Beach is only a 5 minute drive away. A lovely wee afternoon out, and it’s totally free!
I LOVE a beach trip. I’m not really fussed about it being sunny to go to the beach but since it currently is that fantastically sunny bit of Scottish summer, I thought I’d share our faves.
A trip to Millport is a bit nostalgic for me as it’s something I did with my parents as a kid. There was nothing to it but playing on beaches and having a bag of chips, but we had a really wonderful day out.
Boden Boo is a nice spot for a picnic by the water. It’s pretty clean and we all had a great time splashing at the edge of the water and playing in the sand. And it was only a 17 minute drive home!
We went to check out Rollerstop a few weeks ago and we all had a fantastic time. The disco was great fun, and the staff were absolutely amazing. Our new favourite place for a rainy day!
