Boden Boo

Boden Boo is a nice spot for a picnic by the water. It’s pretty clean and we all had a great time splashing at the edge of the water and playing in the sand. And it was only a 17 minute drive home!

Rollerstop Roller Disco

We went to check out Rollerstop a few weeks ago and we all had a fantastic time. The disco was great fun, and the staff were absolutely amazing. Our new favourite place for a rainy day!

Flip Out

We went along to check out the new inflatable play area at Flip Out Glasgow as a wee after school treat the other day. There are a ridiculous number of things to bounce on and we had so much fun. All of us!

Strathaven Park and Model Railway

Strathaven Park and their model railway is one of my favourite memories from last year. It’s such a fun activity. Along with the playparks and having our picnic we had a fantastic afternoon out here.

A Speedboat Trip Up The Clyde for a Doughnut

This speedboat trip up the Clyde to Krispy Kreme was a special treat for Father’s Day last year. It was exhilarating and we all loved it. The pit stop for doughnuts in the middle was perfect. A brilliant afternoon out!

Visiting The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd

We visited the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd during our recent trip to Aviemore. It’s one of my favourite activities we’ve done this whole year! The whole family loved it; from age 2 to 76!

Briarlands Farm

Briarlands Farm is a great place for a run around, for jumping and climbing, for letting off some steam and for meeting cute animals. The tearoom at Briarlands is lovely too (their giant custard creams are absolutely amazing). It has a wee indoor play area with lots of toys where the kids can play while you finish your cuppa! It’s also reasonably priced for entry.

10 Of The Best….. Family Days Out Around Glasgow

These are our 10 of the best family days our near Glasgow: a list of the places that we love to go and spend the day. Our Top Ten. The places we’ve returned to again and again. Some of them are free; some of them are most definitely not. Some of them are suited to rainy days and some are better for the dry days we’ve had so many of recently. Hopefully if you visit any of them, you’ll love them as much as we do!

Troon Beach

Troon Beach is a beautiful place, particularly when the sun is shining. But even when it’s not, there’s an ocean to splash in and all you need is a bucket and spade (and a watering can) and a picnic. Great fun.

Go Live at Glasgow Green

If you get the chance, go to Glasgow Green and see all the brilliant and completely free stuff there is to do as part of the Glasgow European Championships 2018! Its a fantastic day out!

Baltic Street Adventure Playground

Baltic Street Adventure Playground is different to any other play area we’ve been to. There’s loads for them to climb and swing on and jump off and play with. It’s fun, it’s exciting; it’s risky play at its very best. And it’s completely free.

Park Lives Baby Ballet

Park Lives is back until the 25th of July and there are a whole host of activities on in various parks around Glasgow. We checked out a lovely little Baby Ballet class in Victoria Park and the kids had great fun. See what’s on – it’s all FREE!

Falkirk Wheel Splash Park

The Falkirk Wheel splash park is so much fun. There are a couple of different parts to the splash park, plus a playpark and lots of other (paid) activities. We spent the best part of 2 hours here and could easily have stayed longer. It’s such a great place for a cool down on a hot sunny day, and best of all, it’s free!

Tollcross Park Children’s Farm

Tollcross Park Children’s Farm a nice place for a runaround with a toddler, and the indoor education bit is brilliant. It’s definitely one for younger kids but Tollcross Park itself has beautiful rose gardens and is nice for a wander or scoot round too.

Purrple Cat Cafe

If you love cats and don’t have any of your own to pat (or even if you do) then this is the place for you. The food is probably a bit more expensive than I’d like to have paid for it, but the cake was really delicious. The joy that the little lady got from meeting all the lovely cats was totally worth it.

Flip Out Mini Flippers

We all really enjoyed the Mini Flippers session at Flip Out. I think you forget as an adult how much fun jumping actually is! The kids had an absolute blast and we were all exhausted by the end. At £4 per person for almost unlimited time it’s great value too. Flip Out is definitely our favourite trampoline place in Glasgow so far!

Loch Lomond Faerie Trail

The Loch Lomond Faerie Trail a brilliant way to have a fun day outside in the beautiful Scottish countryside. It’s full of things to see and do and there are puzzles to solve and things to find at each faerie door station. And Luss is such a beautiful place on the banks of Loch Lomond, you could easily make a whole day of it here.

The Big Slide at Xcite Braehead

We checked out the latest addition to Soar at intu Braehead today; The Big Slide at Climbzone! It’s the worlds biggest indoor slide and it’s so much fun.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens

The Glasgow Botanic Gardens are a lovely sanctuary in such a busy corner of the city. The playpark is fun and theres lots of space for the kids to run free. The Botanics are the perfect place to let the kids let off steam without travelling too far or spending any money. As a bonus, I get to see the gigantic cacti too!

The Kelpies

I really enjoy a trip to the Kelpies, and the kids do too. It’s outdoors, it’s free, and because the Kelpies themselves are just beautiful. The playpark is fantastic and it’s a totally wheel friendly place too.
