Our Favourite Fun Swimming Pools Around Glasgow!

My kids don’t mind where we go for a swim as long as they can splash and jump in, but some pools are definitely better than others. So I thought I’d share our favourite “fun swimming” pools that my kids enjoy.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum

We love a little trip into Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum for a few hours. It’s a huge space for the little ones to play in and a great place to meet up with a bunch of buggies. If you manage to read anything, that’s always a bonus!

Mount Vernon Gruffalo Trail

A hidden gem in the east end. Gruffalo trail, wooden play areas including a train station and wee adventure play area.

Cuningar Loop

Cuningar Loop is a really pretty park, and will be even prettier as it continues to grow. The whole place is one big adventure, and there is tons to do. My kids adore it here. It’s well worth a visit!

Blair Drummond Safari Park

Blair Drummond Safari Park is one of our favourite places for a day out. There are tons of animals to see from big elephants to teeny tiny ants, boats to go on, loads of bits to play in, shows, talks, and definitely don’t forget the astroglide.

The Kelvin Walkway

The Kelvin Walkway is a beautiful walk, stretching 10 miles along the banks of the River Kelvin from Kelvinhaugh all the way out to Milngavie. It’s a great, easily accessible walk where you really don’t feel like you’re in the middle of a big city.

Dawsholm Park

We have just started coming back to Dawsholm Park in the past weeks as lockdown has eased a bit, and we all absolutely love this park. It has open meadow spaces, massive trees, a bit of river to splash in and lots of little hidden bits to explore. It’s such an underrated park and the kids really feel like they’re on an adventure here. Great fun.

DIY Days Out: The Glasgow Subway

“Build” your own adventure day out on the Glasgow Subway. Great for rainy or sunny days. You can make it as low cost as you like. Choose your stops and make your own adventure day up from this list!

Historic Scotland Family Membership

Our 2020 days out are organised! A Historic Scotland membership would make the perfect gift for any family (or anyone) who likes getting out and exploring.

Kelvin Hall Soft Play

Last week we finally managed to get along to check out the new soft play at Kelvin Hall. The wee man absolutely loved it, and I really appreciated how bright and clean it was!

iMOTO-X Indoor Electric Motorbiking

The little lady and I had a wee mummy daughter date & went along to iMOTO X, Europe’s biggest indoor electric motorbike track. We had the BEST time!

Mugdock Country Park

We always have a great time at Mugdock Country Park. It’s a huge open space to explore with a great castle and a nice wee playpark. Totally free as well, with free parking.

The Wallace Monument

The Wallace Monument has beautiful views, height, stairs to climb, interesting exhibits on the way up, lots of history and a really nice wee walk to get there and back. We all really enjoyed it.

Lamont Farm Project

Lamont Farm Project is very small and very rustic, but it’s a great place to spend an hour wandering round and seeing some cute animals. The little man really enjoyed it here, patting the friendly cat and the rabbits. Sweet little place.

Reidvale Adventure Play Area (RAPA)

Reidvale Adventure Play Area is a really wonderful wee community driven place right in the heart of Dennistoun. There’s so much for kids to do and loads of space for them to just play and be kids.

Kelburn Country Park

Kelburn Country Park is a fantastic place to spend a day. The Secret Forest is one of the most magical things I’ve done with the kids. The whole place is rustic and lovely and the glen is beautiful. A great day out with the kids.

Fullarton Fairy Trail

The Fullarton Fairy Trail is a really sweet little activity. There are fairy doors to fin, a nice playpark at the end and Troon Beach is only a 5 minute drive away. A lovely wee afternoon out, and it’s totally free!

The best beaches near Glasgow

I LOVE a beach trip. I’m not really fussed about it being sunny to go to the beach but since it currently is that fantastically sunny bit of Scottish summer, I thought I’d share our faves.
